BILL NUMBER: S1484 SPONSOR: SERRANO TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to meth- ods used to capture or dispose of nuisance wildlife PURPOSE: This bill would provide greater transparency of the methods used by nuisance wildlife control operators to catch or dispose of wildlife. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section one amends subdivision 5 of section 11-0524 of the environmental conservation law. Section two sets forth the effective date.

SERRANO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Environmental Conservation AN ACT to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to meth- ods used to capture or dispose of nuisance wildlife THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 5 of section 11-0524 of the environmental conservation law, as added by chapter 265 of the laws of 2002, is amended to read as follows: 5. Any person licensed pursuant to this section shall submit annually a report to the department which specifies each client's name and address, the date work was performed, the species controlled, the abate- ment method used, the disposition of the animal, AND IF A LETHAL METHOD WAS USED TO CAPTURE OR DISPOSE OF SUCH ANIMAL, THE LETHAL METHOD USED AND THE REASON WHY A NON-LETHAL METHOD WAS NOT USED, and any other information as required by the department. The department shall annually update a list of nuisance wildlife control operators AND ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS TAKEN BY THE DEPARTMENT AGAINST ANY NUISANCE WILDLIFE CONTROL OPERATOR FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE LAW AND APPLICABLE REGULATIONS and make it available to the public in both printed and electronic formats. § 2.
