BILL NUMBER: S1652 SPONSOR: SKOUFIS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the real property tax law, in relation to subjecting certain state lands in Orange county to real property taxation PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To subject all lands in the towns of Chester and Blooming Grove acquired for a public use by the commissioners of the Palisades Interstate park to local real property taxation. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: Amends section 532 of the Real Property Tax Law, to subject all land in the towns of Chester and Blooming Grove acquired for a public use by the commissioners of the Palisades Interstate park to local real property taxation, in the same manner as is currently done in the towns of Monroe, Warwick, Cornwall, Highlands, Tuxedo, and Woodbury

SKOUFIS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government AN ACT to amend the real property tax law, in relation to subjecting certain state lands in Orange county to real property taxation THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision (e) of section 532 of the real property tax law, as amended by chapter 660 of the laws of 1997, is amended to read as follows: (e) All lands in the counties of Rockland and Sullivan and in the towns of BLOOMING GROVE, CHESTER, Monroe, Warwick, Cornwall, Highlands, Tuxedo and Woodbury, Orange county, and in the towns of Gardiner, Rochester, Shawangunk and Wawarsing, Ulster county, acquired for a public use by the commissioners of the Palisades Interstate park, exclu- sive of the improvements erected thereon by the state; § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall apply to assess- ment rolls prepared on the basis of taxable status dates occurring on and after the date on which this act shall have become a law.
