BILL NUMBER: S2688 SPONSOR: MARTUCCI TITLE OF BILL: An act to authorize Sean Lewis to take the competitive civil service examination and be placed on the eligible civil service list for employ- ment as a full-time police officer for the county of Sullivan PURPOSE: To provide the county of Sullivan the opportunity to offer Mr. Lewis a full time position with the sheriffs department upon his satisfactory performance on the relevant civil service examination. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill deems Mr. Lewis eligible to sit for the compet- itive civil service examination for deputy sheriff and, contingent on his score, shall be eligible to be placed on the list for appointment as a deputy sheriff in the county of Sullivan.

MARTUCCI -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT to authorize Sean Lewis to take the competitive civil service examination and be placed on the eligible civil service list for employment as a full-time police officer for the county of Sullivan THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil service law, or any other provision of law to the contrary, Sean Lewis, employed by the county of Sullivan, as a full-time peace officer, shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of deputy sheriff and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appoint- ment as a full-time deputy sheriff for the county of Sullivan. § 2. Sean Lewis shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police offi- cers. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
