BILL NUMBER: S3480 SPONSOR: COMRIE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to requiring that notice be given to the community boards when there is a change in service furnished upon the rapid transit facilities or the omnibus line facilities of the New York city transit authority PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To give community boards advance notice when service cuts are made in their districts. This hill would give the affected community boards more time to prepare comments in response to the cuts and inform the communi- ty on their impact. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1. COMRIE, GOUNARDES -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to requiring that notice be given to the community boards when there is a change in service furnished upon the rapid transit facilities or the omnibus line facilities of the New York city transit authority THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section 1205 of the public authorities law, as added by chapter 717 of the laws of 1967, is amended to read as follows: 4. From and after March first, nineteen hundred sixty-eight, no substantial or general change in the levels of service furnished upon the rapid transit facilities or the omnibus line facilities of the authority shall be instituted except upon not less than thirty days' written notice to the mayor [and to], the board of estimate AND THE COMMUNITY BOARD WHOSE AREA OF JURISDICTION INCLUDES THE RAPID TRANSIT FACILITY OR OMNIBUS LINE FACILITY UPON WHICH SUCH CHANGE OF SERVICE WAS FURNISHED. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD06128-01-1
