BILL NUMBER: S3847 SPONSOR: SERINO TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to requiring the department of labor to provide cred- it monitoring and identity theft surveillance services to certain indi- viduals whose information may have been disclosed inappropriately PURPOSE: The purpose of this bill is to require the Department of Labor to provide credit monitoring and identity surveillance services to certain individuals whose information may have been disclosed inappropriately. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill requires the Department of Labor to provide at least five years of credit monitoring and identity theft surveillance services to all eligible individuals whose personal information may have been inappropriately disclosed by the department. SERINO, JORDAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Labor AN ACT in relation to requiring the department of labor to provide cred- it monitoring and identity theft surveillance services to certain individuals whose information may have been disclosed inappropriately THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The department of labor shall provide at least five years of credit monitoring and identity theft surveillance services to all eligible individuals whose personal information may have been inappro- priately disclosed by the department. Such credit monitoring services shall be provided at no cost to the eligible individual. For the purposes of this act, "eligible individual" shall mean any person who received a letter from the department of labor dated March 31, 2020, April 2, 2020, April 8, 2020, and April 21, 2020 which related to unem- ployment benefits. § 2.
