BILL NUMBER: S4067 SPONSOR: MYRIE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the education law, in relation to requiring schools to accept credits for educational programs at office of children and family services facilities as transfer credits PURPOSE OF BILL: To provide for the transfer of coursework credits from OCFS operated educational programs to local schools. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section one adds a new subdivision 1-a to Education Law § 112 to state that credits awarded by educational programs in facilities operated by OCFS shall be accepted as transfer credits by any school within New York State. Section two provides for an immediate effective date.

MYRIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring schools to accept credits for educational programs at office of children and family services facilities as transfer credits THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 112 of the education law is amended by adding a new subdivision 1-a to read as follows: 1-A. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, CRED- ITS AWARDED BY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS PROVIDED BY FACILITIES OPERATED BY THE OFFICE OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES SHALL BE ACCEPTED AS TRANSFER CREDITS BY ANY SCHOOL WITHIN THE STATE OF NEW YORK. § 2.
