BILL NUMBER: S6891 SPONSOR: GOUNARDES TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the civil practice law and rules, in relation to provid- ing an exemption of any award from the September eleventh victim compen- sation fund from application to the satisfaction of money judgments. PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The proposed legislation would create an exemption of any recovery of award from the VCF from application to the satisfaction of money judge- ments. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one amends section 5205 of the Civil Practice Law and Rules which relates to the personal property exempt from application to the satisfaction of money judgements.

GOUNARDES -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Judiciary AN ACT to amend the civil practice law and rules, in relation to provid- ing an exemption of any award from the September eleventh victim compensation fund from application to the satisfaction of money judg- ments. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivisions (m), (n) and (o) of section 5205 of the civil practice law and rules, are relettered subdivisions (n), (o) and (p) and a new subdivision (m) is added to read as follows: (M) EXEMPTION OF THE RECOVERY OF AWARDS FROM THE SEPTEMBER ELEVENTH VICTIM COMPENSATION FUND OF TWO THOUSAND ONE ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO TITLE IV OF THE FEDERAL AIR TRANSPORTATION SAFETY AND SYSTEM STABILIZA- TION ACT, PUBLIC LAW 107-42, AS AMENDED. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD11320-01-1
