 Introduced  by  Sen.  KAPLAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules
 
 AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to requiring public
   bodies to ensure that proceedings of meetings are audible for individ-
   uals in person and via broadcast

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Section 103 of the public officers law is amended by adding
 a new subdivision (g) to read as follows:
   (G) PUBLIC BODIES SHALL MAKE OR CAUSE TO BE MADE REASONABLE EFFORTS TO
 ENSURE THAT PROCEEDINGS OF MEETINGS ARE AUDIBLE TO THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO
 ATTEND SUCH MEETINGS IN PERSON OR VIA BROADCAST BY PROVIDING AUDIOVISUAL
 EQUIPMENT,  INCLUDING  BUT  NOT  LIMITED  TO MICROPHONES AND SPEAKERS TO
 ENSURE THAT INDIVIDUALS IN ATTENDANCE AS WELL  AS  INDIVIDUALS  WATCHING
 VIA BROADCAST CAN ADEQUATELY HEAR THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE MEETING.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
