BILL NUMBER: S8598 SPONSOR: KAMINSKY TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to extending the boundaries of the Woodmere fire district to include the village of Woodsburgh PURPOSE: Notwithstanding any statutory prohibition to the contrary, this bill would allow the town of Hempstead to expand the Woodmere fire district's boundaries to include the village of Woodsburgh. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. Authorizes the town of Hempstead to expand the boundaries of the Woodmere fire district to cover and include the village of Woods- burgh. Section 2. The expanded fire district shall be subject to the provisions of article 11 of the town law. Section 3. Sets the effective date.

KAMINSKY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government AN ACT in relation to extending the boundaries of the Woodmere fire district to include the village of Woodsburgh THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of article 11 of the town law to the contrary, upon the expiration of the contract between the village of Woodsburgh, in the county of Nassau, and the Woodmere fire district, providing for fire protection and emergency response by such fire district within such village, the town board of the town of Hempstead is authorized in accordance with the provisions of subdivision 2 of section 170 of the town law, to extend the boundaries of the Woodmere fire district to include the village of Woodsburgh in its entirety for the purposes of providing fire protection and emergency response within such village. § 2. Upon the extension by the town board of the town of Hempstead of the Woodmere fire district to include the village of Woodsburgh, in accordance with section one of this act, such fire district and town board shall be subject to the provisions of article 11 of the town law, and shall continue to have all powers, duties and responsibilities vest- ed in and imposed upon such districts and towns pursuant to article 11 of the town law, and the rules and regulations adopted pursuant thereto. § 3.
