TITLE OF BILL:

An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to the residen-
tial parking system in the village of Croton-on-Hudson

 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:

The purpose of this legislation is to allow the Village of Croton-on-
Hudson to institute residential parking in the area of the Croton River.

 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:

Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 1640-q of the vehicle and traffic
law is amended by adding the following streets to the Village of Croton-
on-Hudson's residential parking permit system: Truesdale Drive, Nordica
Drive, Cedar lane, and Old Post Road South from Truesdale Drive to Morn-
ingside Drive.

Section 2. Establishes the effective date.

JUSTIFICATION:

The Village of Croton would like to institute resident-only parking for
the following streets: Truesdale Dr, Nordica Dr, Cedar Ln, and Old Post
Road between Truesdale Dr and Morningside Dr. There are issues with
individuals parking on these roads, which surround the Croton River.

From these roads, there is no public access to the river, however many
individuals park along these roads, and then trespass on residential
private property in order to make their way to the river. Besides tres-
passing, residents in these areas have seen an increase in vandalism,
littering, traffic congestion and loud noises.

This is new legislation.

 
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS:

There are no fiscal implications associated with the passage of this
legislation.

 
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately.
