   printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education
 
 AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to renaming the state aid
   for certain independent institutions of higher learning to the Leonard
   P.  Stavisky student success grants
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  The section heading of section 6401 of the education law,
 as amended by chapter 186 of the laws of 1977, is  amended  to  read  as
 follows:
   [State  aid  for  certain independent institutions of higher learning]
 LEONARD P. STAVISKY STUDENT SUCCESS GRANTS.
   § 2. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 2 of section 6401 of  the  education
 law is amended by adding a new subparagraph (vi) to read as follows:
   (VI) THE INSTITUTION MUST SUBMIT A REPORT ON THE USE OF THE APPORTION-
 MENT RECEIVED INCLUDING HOW IT SUPPORTED STUDENT SUCCESS.
   §  3.  Paragraph (b) of subdivision 2 of section 6401 of the education
 law is amended by adding a new subparagraph (vi) to read as follows:
   (VI) THE SPONSORING COLLEGE MUST SUBMIT A REPORT ON  THE  USE  OF  THE
 APPORTIONMENT RECEIVED INCLUDING HOW IT SUPPORTED STUDENT SUCCESS.
   § 4. This act shall take effect immediately.
