BILL NUMBER: S9202 SPONSOR: PARKER TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public service law, in relation to requiring cellu- lar telephone companies and third- party service providers to provide plans to the public service commission to make all cell towers one hundred percent renewable energy powered by 2030 PURPOSE: This legislation amends the public service law by requiring cellular telephone companies and third party providers to present plans in prepa- ration to convert cell tower energy usage to renewable energy resources. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends the public service law through the addition of section 92-J Subsection 92-J sets forth the provision that all cellular telephone

PARKER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Energy and Telecommuni- cations AN ACT to amend the public service law, in relation to requiring cellu- lar telephone companies and third- party service providers to provide plans to the public service commission to make all cell towers one hundred percent renewable energy powered by 2030 THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The public service law is amended by adding a new section 92-j to read as follows: § 92-J. CELL TOWERS; RENEWABLE ENERGY. NOTWITHSTANDING SECTION FIVE OF THIS CHAPTER OR ANY OTHER LAW TO THE CONTRARY, NO LATER THAN DECEMBER THIRTY-FIRST, TWO THOUSAND TWENTY-FOUR, ANY CELLULAR TELEPHONE COMPANY OR THIRD-PARTY SERVICE PROVIDER WHO OPERATES CELL TOWERS WITHIN THE STATE SHALL PROVIDE PLANS TO THE COMMISSION TO MAKE ALL CELL TOWERS, MAINTAINED AND CONSTRUCTED BY SUCH COMPANY OR SERVICE PROVIDER WITHIN THE STATE, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT RENEWABLE ENERGY POWERED BY TWO THOUSAND THIRTY. § 2.
