 AN ACT to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation  to  indus-
   trial hemp development
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section 1. Section 519 of the agriculture and markets law, as added by
 chapter 1 of the laws of 2020, is amended to read as follows:
   § 519. Hemp economic development.  [To  the  extent  the  commissioner
 believes  it  to  be  necessary, the] THE commissioner shall consult and
 cooperate with the New York state urban development corporation, THE NEW
 YORK STATE HEMP WORKGROUP CREATED PURSUANT TO SECTION ONE HUNDRED  EIGHT
 OF  THE  CANNABIS  LAW, AND REPRESENTATIVES OF INDUSTRIES THAT CURRENTLY
 USE, OR MAY POTENTIALLY USE, INDUSTRIAL HEMP  IN  THEIR  PRODUCTS,  with
 respect to the funding and support of research, AND PRODUCT AND BUSINESS
 DEVELOPMENT  AND  PROMOTION,  concerning hemp and businesses involved in
 growing, cultivating, and processing hemp for USES  INCLUDING,  BUT  NOT
 LIMITED TO food, fiber, PACKAGING, cannabinoid content, AND construction
 materials [and other uses].
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
