S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 10304 I N A S S E M B L Y May 17, 2024 ___________ Introduced by COMMITTEE ON RULES -- (at request of M. of A. McDonough) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Education AN ACT exempting the Wantagh union free school district from any law, rule, or regulation relating to the use of indigenous names, mascots, and logos THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any law, rule, or regulation to the contra- ry the Wantagh union free school district shall be exempt from any law, rule, or regulation relating to the use of indigenous names, mascots, and logos, including but not limited to part 123 of title 8 of the New York codes, rules and regulations. ยง 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD15006-01-4
