Requires that every lease signature package provided to a tenant by a landlord or the landlord's agent shall include a New York State Voter Registration Form for each tenant over the age of eighteen years and information directing the tenant or tenants to the board of elections website.

 AN ACT to amend the real property law, in relation  to  requiring  land-
   lords  to  include  voter registration update forms in lease signature
   packages
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  The  real property law is amended by adding a new section
 235-j to read as follows:
   § 235-J. VOTER REGISTRATION UPDATE FORMS.  EVERY LEASE SIGNATURE PACK-
 AGE PROVIDED TO A TENANT BY A LANDLORD OR  THE  LANDLORD'S  AGENT  SHALL
 INCLUDE  A  NEW  YORK STATE VOTER REGISTRATION FORM FOR EACH TENANT OVER
 THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN  YEARS  AND  INFORMATION  DIRECTING  THE  TENANT  OR
 TENANTS TO THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS WEBSITE.
   §  2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed-
 ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
