   read once and referred to the Committee on Local Governments
 
 AN ACT to amend the executive law,  in  relation  to  equipping  certain
   emergency response vehicles with appropriate communication devices for
   deaf individuals
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 563 to
 read as follows:
   § 563.  EMERGENCY  RESPONSE  VEHICLES;  COMMUNICATION  DEVICES.  EVERY
 POLICE  VEHICLE, FIRE VEHICLE, AMBULANCE, OR EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICE
 VEHICLE, AS SUCH TERMS ARE DEFINED IN ARTICLE ONE  OF  THE  VEHICLE  AND
 TRAFFIC LAW, SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH APPROPRIATE COMMUNICATION DEVICES TO
 FACILITATE REAL-TIME COMMUNICATION WITH DEAF INDIVIDUALS.
   §  2. This act shall take effect six months after it shall have become
