MAGNARELLI, COOK, STECK, PEOPLES-STOKES, LUPARDO, FAHY, SEAWRIGHT -- read once and referred to the Committee on Election Law AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to requiring that all printed political campaign mailing pieces, containing or made of recyclable material, include a message about recycling the printed materials THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The election law is amended by adding a new section 3-111 to read as follows: § 3-111. RECYCLING OF CAMPAIGN AND POLITICAL LITERATURE. ALL POLI- TICAL LITERATURE IN NEW YORK STATE, WHETHER HAND-BILLED OR MAILED, CONTAINING OR MADE OF RECYCLABLE MATERIAL, SHALL HAVE AFFIXED TO IT, THE RECYCLING LOGO SIGNIFIED BY THREE CHASING ARROWS IN A TRIANGULAR CONFIG- URATION, AND THE FOLLOWING PRINTED MESSAGE: "THIS MATERIAL IS RECYCLA- BLE. PLEASE PROPERLY RECYCLE AFTER USE." § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD00287-01-3
