WOERNER -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to giving preference to accredited law enforcement agencies when awarding grant funds THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 837 of the executive law is amended by adding a new subdivision 10-a to read as follows: 10-A. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY PROVISION OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, THE DIVI- SION SHALL GIVE PREFERENCE WHEN AWARDING GRANT FUNDS TO ANY LAW ENFORCE- MENT AGENCY PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ARTICLE TO LAW ENFORCE- MENT AGENCIES WHO ARE ACCREDITED PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION EIGHT HUNDRED FORTY-SIX-H OF THIS CHAPTER. AS USED IN THIS SUBDIVISION, THE TERM "LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY" SHALL HAVE THE SAME MEANING AS SUCH TERM IS DEFINED IN SUBDIVISION NINE OF SECTION EIGHT HUNDRED FORTY-SIX-H OF THIS CHAPTER. § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD06343-01-3
