STERN -- read once and referred to the Committee on Correction AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to requiring the office of victim assistance to notify crime victims of the availability of victim support services THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The correction law is amended by adding a new section 12 to read as follows: § 12. VICTIM SUPPORT SERVICES NOTICE. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL DIRECT THE OFFICE OF VICTIM ASSISTANCE TO PROVIDE, UPON A CONVICTION FOR ANY CRIME, ANY VICTIM, OR IN THE CASE OF A HOMICIDE, A SURVIVING FAMILY MEMBER, OF SUCH CRIME WRITTEN NOTICE OF THE AVAILABILITY OF VICTIM SUPPORT SERVICES PROGRAMS IN THE STATE. SUCH WRITTEN NOTICE SHALL INCLUDE A STATEWIDE LISTING OF VICTIM ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE CRISIS INTERVENTION, ADVOCACY, COUNSELING, AND OTHER VICTIM SUPPORT SERVICES AND SHALL INCLUDE A LINK TO THE WEBSITE OF THE OFFICE OF VICTIM SERVICES. § 2.
