SOLAGES -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the performance of medical services by physician assistants; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 6542 of the education law is amended by adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows: 2-A. NOTWITHSTANDING SUBDIVISION ONE OR TWO OF THIS SECTION, A PHYSI- CIAN ASSISTANT LICENSED UNDER THIS ARTICLE MAY PERFORM MEDICAL SERVICES WITHOUT THE SUPERVISION OF A PHYSICIAN AS APPROPRIATE TO THE PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT'S SCOPE OF PRACTICE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING WHERE SUCH PHYSI- CIAN ASSISTANT HAS PRACTICED FOR MORE THAN THREE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED HOURS. § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law and shall expire and be deemed repealed two years after such date.
