EPSTEIN -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to establishing a toll exemption for certain residents of the central business district THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 1704-a of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows: 2-A. NO PERSON SHALL BE CHARGED A CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT TOLL IF SUCH PERSON IS A RESIDENT OF THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT. FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS SUBDIVISION "RESIDENT" MEANS A PERSON WHO RESIDES IN THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT AND HAS A HOUSEHOLD INCOME LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO ONE HUNDRED TWENTY PERCENT OF THE MEDIAN INCOME OF THE STANDARD STATISTICAL AREA AS DEFINED BY THE UNITED STATES CENSUS BUREAU. APPLI- CATION FOR SUCH TOLL EXEMPTION SHALL BE MADE IN SUCH MANNER AS PRESCRIBED BY THE TRIBOROUGH BRIDGE AND TUNNEL AUTHORITY AND SHALL CONTAIN SUCH INFORMATION AS THE AUTHORITY MAY REASONABLY REQUIRE. § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD00164-01-3
