 AN ACT to amend the state law, in relation to portraits of former gover-
   nors
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section  1.  The  state law is amended by adding a new section 72-a to
 read as follows:
   § 72-A. PORTRAITS OF GOVERNORS IN THE STATE CAPITOL. NO PORTRAIT OF  A
 FORMER  GOVERNOR  WHO  DOES  NOT  COMPLETE  ANY TERM FOR WHICH THEY WERE
 ELECTED MAY BE DISPLAYED IN  THE  STATE  CAPITOL  BUILDING  WITHOUT  THE
 APPROVAL  OF  THE LEGISLATURE BY THE PASSAGE OF A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION.
 THIS PROVISION SHALL NOT APPLY TO A GOVERNOR WHO DIES WHILE IN OFFICE.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
