PHEFFER AMATO -- read once and referred to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to designating certain emergency and public safety dispatchers and operators as first responders THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 5 of section 3001 of the public health law, as amended by chapter 804 of the laws of 1992, is amended to read as follows: 5. "Certified first responder" means an individual who meets the mini- mum requirements established by regulations pursuant to section three thousand two of this article and who is responsible for administration of initial life saving care of sick and injured persons, AND SHALL INCLUDE PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHERS, EMERGENCY RESPONDERS, EMERGENCY OPER- ATORS, EMERGENCY COMPLAINT OPERATORS AND EMERGENCY SERVICES DISPATCHERS, WHO PROVIDE COMMUNICATION SUPPORT SERVICES WITHIN POLICE AND SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENTS AS WELL AS FIRE, RESCUE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENTS. § 2.
