BRONSON -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to the opera- tion of a motor vehicle by deaf or hard of hearing drivers THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new section 1229-e to read as follows: § 1229-E. OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE BY DEAF OR HARD OF HEARING DRIVERS. NO DEAF OR HARD OF HEARING DRIVER SHALL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A HEARING AID WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE IN THIS STATE PROVIDED THAT SUCH DEAF OR HARD OF HEARING DRIVER'S VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A FULL VIEW MIRROR. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD11153-01-3
