   and referred to the Committee on Judiciary
 
 AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to establishing a record-
   keeping and reporting exemption for notary publics for  acts  relating
   to the designation and nomination of candidates

   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section  135-d
 to read as follows:
   §  135-D.  RECORDKEEPING  AND  REPORTING.  NOTWITHSTANDING  ANY  OTHER
 PROVISION OF LAW, RULE, OR REGULATION TO THE CONTRARY, ANY ACT PERFORMED
 BY A NOTARY PUBLIC AS IT RELATES TO THE DESIGNATION  AND  NOMINATION  OF
 CANDIDATES  PURSUANT  TO  ARTICLE SIX AND SECTION 15-108 OF THE ELECTION
 LAW SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED TO BE RECORDED OR MAINTAINED  BY  SUCH  NOTARY
 PUBLIC.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 135-d
 to read as follows:
   §  135-D.  RECORDKEEPING  AND  REPORTING.  NOTWITHSTANDING  ANY  OTHER

 PROVIDED BY SECTION ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-FIVE-C OF THIS ARTICLE  REGARDING
 ELECTRONIC  NOTARIZATION,  A  NOTARY  SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED TO CREATE OR
 RETAIN ANY OTHER NOTARIAL RECORD OF ANY NOTARIAL ACT.
