 AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to including informa-
   tion on congenital heart defect births in the  informational  leaflets
   required to be given to maternity patients

   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Short title. This act shall be known and may  be  cited  as
 "Paul's law".
   § 2. Section 2803-j of the public health law, as amended by chapter 62
 of  the laws of 1996, is amended by adding a new subdivision 1-e to read
 as follows:
   1-E. THE INFORMATIONAL LEAFLET SHALL ALSO INCLUDE INFORMATION  RELATED
 TO CONGENITAL HEART DEFECT BIRTHS, INCLUDING TREATMENT REQUIREMENTS, AND
 ANY OTHER INFORMATION THE COMMISSIONER SHALL DEEM APPROPRIATE.
   §  3.  This  act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
 have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or
 repeal of any rule or regulation necessary  for  the  implementation  of
 this  act  on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed
 on or before such effective date.
