 AN ACT to amend the executive law  and  the  general  business  law,  in
   relation  to requiring wireless communication method service providers
   disable services to stolen wireless communication methods

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  Short title.  This act shall be known and may be cited as
 the "Detective Brian Simonsen's law".
   § 2. The executive law is amended by adding a  new  section  845-e  to
 read as follows:
   §  845-E. NOTIFICATION OF STOLEN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION METHODS. WHEN-
 EVER ANY POLICE OFFICER DESIGNATED  IN  SECTION  1.20  OF  THE  CRIMINAL
 PROCEDURE LAW OR A PEACE OFFICER DESIGNATED IN SECTION 2.10 OF SUCH LAW,
 ACTING  PURSUANT  TO HIS OR HER SPECIAL DUTIES, IS MADE AWARE A WIRELESS
 COMMUNICATION METHOD HAS BEEN STOLEN OR IS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN STOLEN,
 SUCH OFFICER SHALL:
   1. WHERE THE WIRELESS COMMUNICATION METHOD IS  A  WIRELESS  TELEPHONE,
 NOTIFY  THE  BUSINESS  ENTITY  WHICH  WAS PROVIDING SUCH STOLEN WIRELESS
 TELEPHONE WIRELESS TELEPHONE SERVICES AND HAVE SUCH SERVICES  DISCONTIN-
 UED;
   2.  WHERE THE WIRELESS COMMUNICATION METHOD IS AN INTERNATIONAL MOBILE
 IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM, NOTIFY THE BUSINESS ENTITY  WHICH  WAS  PROVIDING
 SUCH  INTERNATIONAL  MOBILE IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM AND HAVE SUCH SERVICES
 DISCONTINUED;
   3. WHERE THE WIRELESS COMMUNICATION METHOD IS AN INTERNATIONAL  MOBILE
 EQUIPMENT  IDENTITY NUMBER, NOTIFY THE BUSINESS ENTITY WHICH WAS PROVID-
 ING SUCH INTERNATIONAL MOBILE EQUIPMENT IDENTITY NUMBER  AND  HAVE  SUCH
 SERVICES DISCONTINUED; AND
   4.  WHERE THE WIRELESS COMMUNICATION METHOD IS AN INTERNATIONAL MOBILE
 SUBSCRIBER IDENTITY NUMBER, NOTIFY THE BUSINESS ENTITY WHICH WAS PROVID-
