S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 9184 I N A S S E M B L Y February 12, 2024 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. DURSO -- read once and referred to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to prohibiting the perma- nent or temporary housing of migrant populations in schoolhouses or on school grounds in districts outside of a city with a population of one million or more THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 414 of the education law is amended by adding a new subdivision 3 to read as follows: 3. SCHOOLHOUSES AND GROUNDS IN THE CUSTODY AND UNDER THE CONTROL AND SUPERVISION OF TRUSTEES OR A BOARD OF EDUCATION OF A DISTRICT OUTSIDE A CITY OF ONE MILLION OR MORE SHALL BE PROHIBITED FROM BEING USED FOR THE PURPOSES OF PROVIDING PERMANENT OR TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR MIGRANT POPU- LATIONS. § 2.
