BRONSON -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Higher Education AN ACT to direct the state university of New York to examine and conduct a study on the creation of an equity-centered honors college for the state university of New York college at Geneseo THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The board of trustees of the state university of New York shall conduct a study on the feasibility of the creation of an equity- centered honors college at the state university of New York college at Geneseo, which shall include but not be limited to the following: 1. the development and examination of a plan for the implementation and operation of an equity-centered honors college prepared by the state university of New York college at Geneseo in consultation with faculty, staff, and students at such college; 2. anticipated impacts of an equity-centered honors college on increased enrollment; 3. the benefits to minority students of participating in an equity- centered honors college program, without any monetary concerns; 4. the benefit of providing students participating in an equity-cen- tered honors college a guarantee of successful job placement; and 5. an examination of the economic costs and benefits of establishing an equity-centered honors college for the state university of New York college at Geneseo. § 2. The board of trustees of the state university of New York shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations of the study conducted under section one of this act to the governor, the temporary president of the senate, the speaker of the assembly, and the chairs of the higher education committees in the assembly and senate within one hundred eighty days of the effective date of this act. § 3.
