AN ACT directing the department of environmental conservation to develop
a regional plan for Long Island glass recycling
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. 1. The department of environmental conservation is hereby
directed to engage and coordinate Long Island municipalities, Alfred
university, and the glass packaging institute to develop a regional plan
for Long Island glass recycling. Such plan shall include:
(a) proposals for the reuse of recycled materials; and
(b) site state-owned property, or property that could be acquired by
the state, where a Long Island glass recycling facility is to be built.
2. No later than one year after the effective date of this act, the
department of environmental conservation shall submit a report to the
governor, the temporary president of the senate, the speaker of the
assembly, the minority leader of the senate, the minority leader of the
assembly, the county executive of Nassau county, and the county execu-
tive of Suffolk county detailing the regional plan for Long Island glass
recycling required pursuant to subdivision one of this act.
ยง 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
