 AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to making a  city  school
   district in a city having a population of one million or more eligible
   for transitional aid for charter school payments
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The opening paragraph of subdivision 41 of section 3602  of
 the  education  law, as amended by section 20 of part B of chapter 57 of
 the laws of 2008, is amended to read as follows:
   In addition to any other apportionment under this section, for the two
 thousand seven--two thousand eight school year and thereafter, a  school
 district  [other  than  a  city school district in a city having a popu-
 lation of one million or more] shall be eligible for an apportionment in
 an amount equal to the sum of
   § 2. This act shall take effect April 1, 2024; provided,  however,  if
 this  act  shall become a law after such date it shall take effect imme-
 diately and shall be deemed to have been in full force and effect on and
 after April 1, 2024.
