CONGRATULATING the Horace Greeley High School Boys
Swimming and Diving Team upon the occasion of
capturing the NYSPHSAA Boys Swimming and Diving
Championship on March 4, 2023

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Horace Greeley High School Boys Swimming and Diving Team upon the
occasion of capturing back-to-back the NYSPHSAA Boys Swimming and Diving
Championship on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Ithaca College; and

WHEREAS, In front of a capacity crowd and a fan base of family,
friends and teammates, the Horace Greeley High School Boys Swimming and
Diving Team won the title with an outstanding score of 247 points, 50
more than the second-place team; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by these young men is due in
great part to the efforts of Head Coach Margaret Kaplan and Assistant
Coaches Mike Darland and Jeanne Kellachan, skilled and inspirational
tutors, respected for their ability to develop potential into
excellence; and

WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and the members of the Horace Greeley High School
Boys Swimming and Diving Team have clearly made a contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their school; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Horace Greeley High School Boys Swimming and Diving
Team upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Boys Swimming and
Diving Championship on March 4, 2023; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Horace Greeley High School Boys
Swimming and Diving Team: Jayden Holmes, Jack Cornish, Zayaan Hussain,
Sebastian Divina, Daniel Lee, Danyaal Hussain, Evan Wohl, Ziheng Ma,
Naveen Arjune, Arjun Menon, Erik Nadecki, Eric Engel, Lawrence Gulotta,
Grant Hwang, Tristan Payne, Xiaochuan Liang, Jonathan McCall, Hudson
Chung, Michael Weyne, Jonas Balcetis, Warren Fu, George Martin, Jonathan
Serra, Trey Schlomann, David Coppola, Adam Kamal, Oliver Engel, Jack
Moran, Benjamin Chang, Jed Wei, Patrick Fang, Jules Martin, Connor
McHugh, Gabriel Grada, and Jamie Lynch; Head Coach Margaret Kaplan,

Assistant Coaches Mike Darland and Jeanne Kellachan, Managers Ellie
