MEMORIALIZING Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim
June 21, 2023, as Community Organizers Day in the
State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to set aside days
in the State of New York which recognize those who selflessly work to
improve the quality of life for others by coming together and discussing
ways to solve common social problems; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim June 21, 2023, as
Community Organizers Day in the State of New York, in conjunction with
the observance of National Community Organizers Day; and

WHEREAS, These organizers often work without salaries, accolades,
promotions, or pensions but for the love of community; and

WHEREAS, It is important to celebrate and acknowledge the importance
of community organizing and the immense contributions of selfless
community organizers in improving the quality of our lives; and

WHEREAS, This day brings together family, friends, and local
authorities in an effort to inspire everyone with what can be done when
we all work together, and encourage more individuals to get involved and
make a positive impact on their communities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim June 21, 2023 as Community
Organizers Day in the State of New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Kathy Hochul, Governor of the State of New
York and to Sheikh Musa Drammeh, Cofounder of Community Organizers Day.
