COMMENDING William K. Guglielmo posthumously upon
the occasion of his designation as Grand Marshal of
the 40th Annual Honor America Days Parade in Rome,
New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend William K. Guglielmo posthumously upon the occasion of his
designation as Grand Marshal of the 40th Annual Honor America Days
Parade in Rome, New York, to be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023; and

WHEREAS, This year's parade will honor the legacy of William K.
Guglielmo, a man who was devoted to making his community a better place
to live, work and play; and

WHEREAS, Led by the 10th Mountain Division Band from Fort Drum, the
parade will also include many other bands and musicians as well as other
specialty entertainers including the return of the giant puppets from
Open Hand Theater in Syracuse, New York; and

WHEREAS, After the parade, the celebration will continue with a Pops
concert by the Symphoria and a fireworks show; and

WHEREAS, Born in Rome, New York, William K. Guglielmo graduated from
Rome Free Academy in 1967; he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
Management Science from the University of Buffalo, and an Associate of
Applied Science degree in Business Administration from SUNY Morrisville;
and

WHEREAS, William "Bill" K. Guglielmo began his illustrious career
with the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce in February 1973 as a staff
assistant; through the years, he worked his way up to Director of
Government Affairs & Membership Development, Administrator, and
Executive Vice-President, before becoming President in 1996; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his work with the Chamber of Commerce,
William K. Guglielmo was instrumental in starting and planning the City
of Rome's Honor America Days celebration each summer, which will be held
from July 28-August 6, 2023, with the theme "40th Anniversary"; and

WHEREAS, As an Honor America Days Celebration Committee member,
William K. Guglielmo was committed to making each and every Honor
America Days celebration better than the last one; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the

recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend William K. Guglielmo posthumously upon the occasion of his
designation as Grand Marshal of the 40th Annual Honor America Days
Parade in Rome, New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of William K. Guglielmo.
