Senate Resolution No. 1299

MOURNING the death of Marianne H. Lindquist,
devoted mother and grandmother, distinguished
citizen and dedicated member of her community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Marianne H. Lindquist of Carmel, New York, passed away on
Sunday, April 9, 2023, at the age of 85; and
WHEREAS, Marianne H. Lindquist was born to Eugene and Margaret
(Thiele) Schmidt on April 25, 1937; and
WHEREAS, Marianne H. Lindquist distinguished herself in her
profession and by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of her community; and
WHEREAS, For 38 years, Marianne H. Lindquist worked as the executive
secretary for IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights,
New York; in this capacity, she directly managed six other secretaries;
and
WHEREAS, In addition to this role, Marianne H. Lindquist worked for
the Putnam Board of Elections, and was a devoted mother and grandmother;
and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by her sister Barbara Schmidt, Marianne H.
Lindquist is survived by her beloved son, Eric (Julie) and her two
treasured grandchildren, Grayson and Harper; and her longtime companion
of 22 years, Al Witte, all of whom will long cherish her memory; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Marianne H. Lindquist leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Marianne H. Lindquist, devoted mother and
grandmother, distinguished citizen and dedicated member of her
community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Marianne H. Lindquist.
