CONGRATULATING Bernard Turi, upon the occasion of
his retirement as Executive Vice President of Utica
National Insurance Group, on September 15, 2023

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, For the past 36 years, Bernard Turi rendered faithful,
conscientious, and valuable service to Utica National Insurance Group;
in his capacity in numerous positions, spanning from Senior Claims
Specialist to Executive Vice President, he served with loyalty, honor,
and distinction; and

WHEREAS, Utica National Insurance Group will honor this
exceptionally accomplished executive, Bernard Turi, with a celebration
of his retirement on Friday, September 15, 2023; and

WHEREAS, As a cum laude graduate, Bernard Turi obtained a bachelor's
degree in political science from Niagara University, followed by a juris
doctorate from Syracuse University College of Law; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his extensive career with Utica National
Insurance Group, Bernard Turi has served the company in various
positions, starting as a Senior Claims Specialist in the Errors and
Omissions department in 1987; and

WHEREAS, Subsequently, Bernard Turi has held the following positions
within Utica National Insurance Group: Staff Attorney (1990); Associate
Claims Attorney (1995); Claims Attorney/Director of liability claims
(1999); Associate General Counsel and Claims Attorney (2004); Director
of the Risk and Reinsurance department (2011); General Counsel and
Director of the Risk and Reinsurance department (2013); and General
Counsel, General Auditor, and Chief Risk Officer (2014); and

WHEREAS, Bernard Turi was named as an officer of Utica National
Insurance Group as an Assistant Vice President (1999); Vice President
(2007); Senior Vice President (2011); and Executive Vice President
(2021), the esteemed role from which he will retire; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, Bernard Turi served as the Chair of New York
Insurance Association (NYIA) in 2014 and 2015, a member of the NYIA
Board of Directors from 2007-2015, and an officer with NYIA from
2010-2015; and

WHEREAS, Currently serving as Vice Chair on the board of directors
and Chair of the finance and audit committees of the New York Property
Insurance Underwriting Association (NYPIUA), Bernard Turi is also the
Chair of the Utica National Group Foundation Screening Committee; and

WHEREAS, Appointed by the superintendent of the Department of
Financial Services of New York State, Bernard Turi is presently serving

his second three-year term as a member of the New York State Insurance
Advisory Committee; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, in New York State, Bernard Turi has been
admitted to practice law before its courts as well as the United States
District Court for the Northern District of New York; and

WHEREAS, In his official acts, Bernard Turi was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique perspective of the needs of his
clientele; during his tenure with Utica National Insurance Group, he
earned the admiration, esteem, and affection of his colleagues; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Bernard Turi upon the occasion of his retirement, after 36
years of distinguished service, on September 15, 2023 and to wish him
success in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Bernard Turi.
