CONGRATULATING Vincenza Benedetto upon the
occasion of celebrating her 110th Birthday

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commemorate
and recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Vincenza Benedetto upon the occasion of her 110th Birthday
on Friday, January 26, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Vincenza Benedetto, of Mineola, New York, was born on
January 26, 1914; during that year, World War I commenced, and Woodrow
Wilson was the United States President; and

WHEREAS, Active in her community, Vincenza Benedetto served as a
volunteer at Winthrop Hospital in Long Island, New York, for 10 years;
she also worked in the garment industry; during World War II, she was
employed as a factory inspector; and

WHEREAS, To this day, Vincenza Benedetto is still quite independent
in her daily affairs; she is known for her perseverance and her love of
paperwork, namely her particularly detailed grocery list and coupons;
and

WHEREAS, Many monumental historic events occurred during Vincenza
Benedetto's lifetime; she has lived through both World Wars; she has
witnessed horse-drawn carriages, buggies, and electric cars; she has
also experienced advancements from inkwells and fountain pens to laptops
and smartphones; and

WHEREAS, In Bethpage, New York, family, friends, and members of her
community celebrated this momentous occasion on Tuesday, January 9,
2024; Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman honored the
great-grandmother with a citation and a day in her honor; the guest of
honor basked in the well-deserved recognition she excitedly anticipated;
and

WHEREAS, Vincenza Benedetto, with her zest for life, has inspired
and enhanced the lives of her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian has experienced the incredible
joys and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the
stamina and courage to savor a full life; and

WHEREAS, Vincenza Benedetto has enriched the lives of those around
her through her joyous and sincere love for others and through the

vibrant charm and infinite wisdom which come only from a fullness of
years; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have
witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments, and
outstanding achievements of this Nation during the last century, while
themselves contributing to the growth and excellence of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Vincenza Benedetto upon the occasion of celebrating her
110th Birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Vincenza Benedetto.
