HONORING Chief Master Sergeant John A. Jones upon
his retirement after faithful military service as
Commander of the Civil Air Patrol's NY Wing

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
those individuals who have honorably and courageously served this
country, in order to protect the life and liberty of our citizens, and
to support civilian authorities during times of emergency; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Chief Master Sergeant John A. Jones upon his retirement after faithful
military service as Commander of the Civil Air Patrol's NY Wing, to be
celebrated on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Change of Command
Ceremony to be held at 1100 Fuel Cell Hanger, Hancock Field ANGB in
Syracuse, New York; and

WHEREAS, Having entered the Air Force in August of 1993, John Jones
served in a myriad of positions with growing responsibility over the
next 31 years, culminating in his current position in the NYS Air
National Guard as Superintendent of the 174th Maintenance Operations
Flight, 174th Maintenance Group, Hancock Field ANGB, Syracuse, New York;
and

WHEREAS, Initially, John Jones served as an Airlift Aircraft
Maintenance Specialist assigned to the 436th Airlift Wing, Dover Air
Force Base; in 1997, he transitioned to the 174th Fighter Wing of the
New York Air National Guard and for nine years held the responsibilities
of Attack Controls Systems Specialist and Electronic Integrated Systems
Specialist, maintaining critical electronic systems of the F-16C/D
Fighting Falcon; and

WHEREAS, In 2006, John Jones moved to the Maintenance Group Quality
Assurance office as the Avionics Inspector, eventually serving as the
Chief Inspector and Superintendent; he bravely served on many
deployments to Europe and the Middle East to support vital missions for
the Nation, such as Operations DELIBERATE FORCE, SOUTHERN WATCH, NOBLE
EAGLE, and ENDURING FREEDOM; and

WHEREAS, A man with extensive education and experience, John Jones
was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant on June 9, 2017; he commanded over
2,100 personnel and was responsible for organizing and executing various
missions for the U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense, and New York
State; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished military career, Chief Master
Sergeant John A. Jones has received numerous military awards and
decorations for his dedicated service, including the Meritorious Service
Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force
Achievement Medal, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with
silver oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal with one device,
Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer
Service Medal, NATO Medal, and many other achievements; and


WHEREAS, Devoted to his community and the armed forces, John Jones
is a member of the Civil Air Patrol, U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, Air Force
Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Service Academy
Selection Committee, and Veteran's Affairs Committee; and

WHEREAS, In addition, John Jones received several educational
merits, having graduated from many Air Force training academies with
honors; and

WHEREAS, Individuals who dedicate their lives to military service
merit the commendation and applause of all citizens for their commitment
to the preservation of American freedom; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Chief Master Sergeant John A. Jones upon his retirement after
faithful military service as Commander of the Civil Air Patrol's NY
Wing; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chief Master Sergeant John A. Jones.
