CONGRATULATING George C. Crouch, III upon the
occasion of celebrating his 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commemorate
and recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate George C. Crouch, III upon the occasion of his 100th
Birthday to be celebrated on March 1, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Born March 1, 1924 in Hartford, Connecticut to Estelle and
George Crouch Jr., George C. Crouch, III is a man who has over and over
beat the odds; and

WHEREAS, George C. Crouch, III proudly served his country in the
United States Army as a sergeant in World War II and as a platoon
sergeant in the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Professionally, George C. Crouch, III worked at City
College of the City University of New York, and after 28 years, he
retired from his position there as the chief laboratory instructor in
the chemistry department; he had also studied at City College and at
Cornell University, while, for many decades, being an active participant
in numerous social, educational, and civil rights organizations and
political endeavors, collecting awards along the way; and

WHEREAS, The recipient of countless awards and accolades, George C.
Crouch, III especially cherished an award from the Williamsbridge Branch
NAACP Youth Council and his life membership in the NAACP; he was also
named Honorary Mayor of the Bronx's Williamsbridge; and

WHEREAS, George C. Crouch, III was thrice married and is now a
widower, having lost his wife Gail to COVID-19 in 2020; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his daughters Kai and Deborah, George C.
Crouch, III was a father to the late Tanya Sutton, mother of his
grandson Taron; his only son Eddie and his daughter-in-law Allison gave
him two other grandchildren, Quincy and Lance; and

WHEREAS, George C. Crouch, III, with his zest for life, has inspired
and enhanced the lives of his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, This distinguished man has experienced the incredible joys
and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the stamina
and courage to savor a full life; and

WHEREAS, George C. Crouch, III has enriched the lives of those
around him through his joyous and sincere love for others and through
the profound charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years;
and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have
witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and
awesome achievements of this country during the last century, while
themselves contributing to the growth and excellence of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate George C. Crouch, III upon the occasion of celebrating his
100th Birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to George C. Crouch, III.
