CONGRATULATING Evelyn Kersmanc upon the occasion
of being named the 2024-2025 New York State Dairy
Ambassador on February 24, 2024

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
applaud the leaders of commerce and industry whose accomplishments
contribute to the economic health and prosperity of the communities of
the State of New York and to the quality of life of its people; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Evelyn Kersmanc upon the occasion of being named the
2024-2025 New York State Dairy Ambassador; she was selected for this
prestigious position on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at a virtual
contest streaming from Syracuse, New York; and

WHEREAS, 16 counties participated in naming a county dairy
ambassador and of those five counties sent representatives to the
two-day state level competition, where participants were judged on a
personal interview, impromptu questions, a prepared speech, a product
knowledge exam, writing skills and informal interaction with others,
communication skills and knowledge of the dairy industry; and

WHEREAS, As New York State Dairy Ambassador, Evelyn Kersmanc also
received a $2,000 scholarship and an internship opportunity with
American Dairy Association North East; and

WHEREAS, The second person from Otsego County to hold this honor and
the first from the County in 20 years, Evelyn Kersmanc is a 17-year-old
senior at Worcester Central School who showed passion for the dairy
industry since a young age, having grown up on her family's dairy farm;
she has served as the Otsego County Dairy Ambassador since spring 2023;
and

WHEREAS, As the Otsego County Dairy Ambassador over the past year,
Evelyn Kersmanc has shown her passion for the dairy industry by
participating in activities and speaking with people of all ages, from
young children in schools to the elderly about the benefits of milk and
dairy products; and

WHEREAS, In her new role as New York State Dairy Ambassador, Evelyn
Kersmanc will be the spokesperson and advocate for 3,200 dairy farmers
in the State; as dairy ambassador, she will attend special events to
engage with and educate consumers on the nutritional benefits of milk
and dairy foods, how farmers care for their cows and their land in order
to produce a sustainable product and the importance of the dairy
industry to the New York State economy; and

WHEREAS, As ambassador, Evelyn Kersmanc is committed to helping
passionate young dairy farmers build their critical professional skills
and confidence in order to be the very best they can be; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Evelyn Kersmanc upon the occasion of being named the
2024-2025 New York State Dairy Ambassador on February 24, 2024; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Evelyn Kersmanc.
