MOURNING the death of John Giglio, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, John Giglio of Buchanan, New York, died on March 4, 2024,
at the age of 96; and

WHEREAS, Born on July 24, 1927, to Augusta and Louis A. Giglio Sr.,
John Giglio grew up on Riverside Avenue in Croton-on-Hudson along with
his five siblings; and

WHEREAS, Having attended Croton-Harmon High School, John Giglio made
the brave decision to serve in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947
as an infantry member; and

WHEREAS, Marrying his high school sweetheart, John Giglio wed Louise
Farano on September 18, 1949, and was married to her for 74 loving years
until her passing; and

WHEREAS, During his long and remarkable lifetime, John Giglio was an
80-year member of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department and Washington
Engine Company; devoted to serving his community, he was also a member
of the Croton-on-Hudson Historical Society, the Croton Seniors Club, the
Croton-Harmon Boosters Club, the Fox-Eklof American Legion Post 505, and
the Village Recreation Advisory Committee; and

WHEREAS, John Giglio distinguished himself in his profession and by
his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and

WHEREAS, John Giglio's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, John Giglio is survived by his sons, Robert and Thomas,
daughters-in-law Caron and Donna, three grandchildren, one
great-grandchild, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, John Giglio leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of John Giglio, distinguished citizen and devoted member
of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of John Giglio.
