MOURNING the death of James E. Seymour III,
meritorious firefighter, devoted family man, and
distinguished member of his community

WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding members of our community who,
through their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to better
the quality of life in our community and have had a measurable positive
impact on the lives of its residents; James E. Seymour III, was one such
individual; and

WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that this
Legislative Body records the passing of James E. Seymour III, noting the
significance of his purposeful life and accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, James E. Seymour III, of Cortlandt, New York, died on June
7, 2023, at the age of 67; and

WHEREAS, James E. Seymour III, was born on February 6, 1956, to
James E. Seymour Jr. and Donna (Keesler) Seymour in Peekskill, New
York; and

WHEREAS, A 1975 graduate of Peekskill High School, James E. Seymour
III, began his professional career with IBM in East Fishkill, before
transitioning to a career in emergency management in 1995 with the City
of Peekskill and the private sector; and

WHEREAS, Only behind the love for his family, was his love of public
service; James E. Seymour III, dedicated his life to fire service; he
was a 49-year member of Washington Engine Company No. 2 in the Peekskill
Fire Department, serving as chief of the department from 2001 to 2003;
and

WHEREAS, After moving to Cortlandt from Peekskill in 2004, James E.
Seymour III, served as a commissioner of the Lake Mohegan Fire District
from 2008 to 2017, all the while remaining an active participant in both
the Lake Mohegan and Peekskill Fire Departments; and

WHEREAS, James E. Seymour III, enjoyed annual hunting trips with
family members, as well as spending time with his grandchildren, whom he
loved more than life itself; and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by his father, James E. Seymour III, is
survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sharon (Matero); their four
children, Jimmy IV (Jean), Joey, Melissa, and Cheryl (Phil) Guglielmini;
and four grandchildren, Vanessa, Samantha, Isabella, and Domenick; as
well as his mother, Donna; siblings, Billy, Donna, Julie, and Danny, and
many nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, James E. Seymour's infinite selflessness and benevolence
will shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories; his insight
and strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and hope to
the countless lives he touched; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, James E. Seymour III, leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
who were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man; he will
be deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this
Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of James E. Seymour III, and to express its deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of James E. Seymour III.
