COMMENDING the Brooklyn-Long Island Chapter of
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity upon the occasion of
hosting its 75th Anniversary Gala on April 27, 2024
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those fraternal organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Brooklyn-Long Island Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity
upon the occasion of hosting its 75th Anniversary Gala on April 27,
2024, at Russo's on the Bay in Queens, New York; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed chapter, originally chartered as the Brooklyn
Alumni Chapter on April 9, 1949, was founded by 15 distinguished men:
Polemarch, Lewis S. Flagg, III; Vice Polemarch, Leroy A. Payne; Keeper
of Records, Clifton E. Gross; Keeper of the Exchequer, Frank C. Johnson;
Historian, Claude B. Cave; Elliott J. Barnett; Williams Brooks; Wesley
H. Carrion; William M. Chisholm; R. Risley Dent, Jr.; Charles R.
Joseph; Rudolph Scott; Frizzell J. Smith; Austin Sobers; and LaVerte T.
Warren; and
WHEREAS, This fraternity was established with the principles of
achievement, culture, patriotism, and honor, all of which serve as a
guiding light throughout all of its endeavors; and
WHEREAS, This dignified Brooklyn-Long Island Chapter of Kappa Alpha
Psi Fraternity is renowned for performing acts of charity and
philanthropy, developing athletic and scholarship programs, empowering
youth, and strengthening the community as a whole; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this important milestone in the history of the
Brooklyn-Long Island Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, wishing the
organization countless years of sparkling success in the future- the
likes of which it has grown accustomed to; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor and commend the members of the Brooklyn-Long Island Chapter of
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, past and present, who have labored so
conscientiously to secure and improve the quality of life for the
community it serves; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Brooklyn-Long Island Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi
Fraternity.
