CONGRATULATING Liz Metzger upon the occasion of
her retirement, as Director, after 28 years of
distinguished service to the Canastota Public
Library in Canastota, New York, on Sunday, June 30,
2024

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Since September of 1995, Liz Metzger rendered faithful,
conscientious, and valuable service to the residents of Canastota and
its neighboring communities; and

WHEREAS, Liz Metzger has maintained the mission of the Canastota
Public Library which is to provide opportunities for learning and growth
to all through the library staff, its collections, and its physical and
digital spaces; and

WHEREAS, During Liz Metzger's tenure as Director, the library's
vision to be an innovative leader in implementing a variety of
strategies to bring knowledge, inspire lifelong learning, and strengthen
the community has been steadfastly preserved; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her husband, parents, and
grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; her retirement plans include caring for her
parents, becoming more involved with her grandchildren, pursuing
opportunities in volunteerism, and traveling with her husband; and

WHEREAS, In her capacity as Director, Liz Metzger served with
loyalty, honor, and distinction; in her official acts, she was governed
by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human need,
providing essential services to members of her community; and

WHEREAS, Liz Metzger has earned the admiration, esteem, and
affection of her colleagues; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Liz Metzger upon the occasion of her retirement, as
Director, after 28 years of distinguished service to the Canastota
Public Library in Canastota, New York, on Sunday, June 30, 2024; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Liz Metzger.
