CONGRATULATING the Corning-Painted Post Boys
Bowling Team upon the occasion of capturing the 2024
NYSPHSAA Division 1 Bowling Championship on March
10, 2024
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, The Corning-Painted Post Boys Bowling Team led Victor by 68
points after the opening three games and maintained the lead throughout
the afternoon session to claim the Division I crown at the New York
State Public High School Athletic Association tournament on Sunday,
March 10, 2024, at AMF Strike 'N Spare Lanes in Syracuse, New York; and
WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the
Corning Hawks had a total pinfall of 6,264 over the six championship
games; and
WHEREAS, After this historic win, the Hawks returned home in style,
as Corning area first responders led the team through a parade, which
spanned from Market Street back to the high school, where a group of
supporters and parents greeted them; and
WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of black and gold,
family, friends, and the community-at-large loyally and enthusiastically
supported the Hawks throughout their journey as they ended their season
with an impressive 17-3 overall record and the team's first ever state
title; and
WHEREAS, In a sport such as bowling, which demands athletic prowess,
precision and adaptability, Head Coach William Condon worked hard to
hone the skills of this championship team, teaching these outstanding
athletes lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off the lanes;
and
WHEREAS, Head Coach William Condon and all of the outstanding
athletes on the Corning-Painted Post Boys Bowling Team have clearly
utilized dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Corning-Painted Post Boys Bowling Team:
Cameron Kennedy, Camryn Stefanini, Peyton Nelson, Zach Sturdevant, Dante
White, Maximus Aponte and Bentley Goodier; and Head Coach William
Condon, on their outstanding season; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Corning-Painted Post Boys Bowling
Team; and Head Coach William Condon.
