HONORING David Kinyon upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2024 Father Joseph
L. Levesque Award for Community Advocacy by the
Niagara USA Chamber of Commerce on May 9, 2024
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those distinguished citizens who devote their life's work and
purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
David Kinyon upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2024 Father Joseph L. Levesque Award for Community Advocacy by the
Niagara USA Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, May 9, 2024; and
WHEREAS, With unwavering dedication, advocacy, and steadfast support
of Lockport and Niagara County, David Kinyon has worked in the community
development and economic development fields for 43 years; and
WHEREAS, Working for the Town of Lockport as industrial development
agency director and as economic development coordinator prior to his
retirement in 2015, David Kinyon has always given of his time,
knowledge, and efforts unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, David Kinyon is known for constantly working to enhance the
vibrancy and resilience of the community, and his prideful efforts are
shown in the historic Flight for Five and Lock Tenders Monument; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed volunteer also has served as president of the
predecessor to the Niagara USA Chamber, the Eastern Niagara Chamber of
Commerce, and was executive director of the Eighth District Dental
Society for seven years; and
WHEREAS, In his retirement, David Kinyon has focused his efforts in
the area of canal development, both locally and at a state level, as
well as on the preservation of the Flight of Five through the Locks
Heritage District Corporation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honoring David Kinyon upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2024 Father Joseph L. Levesque Award for Community Advocacy by
the Niagara USA Chamber of Commerce on May 9, 2024; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to David Kinyon.
