CONGRATULATING Angelina McKane upon the occasion
of capturing both the Girls 50-yard Freestyle and
the Girls 100-yard Butterfly titles at the NYSPHSAA
Girls Swimming and Diving Championship on November
18, 2023

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly favored in
high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Angelina McKane upon the occasion of capturing both the Girls 50-yard
Freestyle and the Girls 100-yard Butterfly titles at the NYSPHSAA Girls
Swimming and Diving Championship on Saturday, November 18, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Angelina McKane, of Corning, New York, a senior at
Corning-Painted Post High School, is a true team player; voted as Team
Captain in both her junior and senior years, she is driven to see
success for her team; and

WHEREAS, At the NYSPHSAA Championship in 2023, five-time State
Champion Angelina McKane won both the Scholar Athlete Award and
Outstanding Competitor Award, presented by the New York State Certified
Swimming Officials Association; she is committed to swimming in Division
I at the United States Military Academy at West Point; and

WHEREAS, Angelina McKane has proven her athletic prowess in previous
years; she holds records for the 100-yard Butterfly, 50-yard Freestyle,
and 100-yard Backstroke in Section IV; for Corning-Painted Post High
School, she attained 10 team records and six pool records; in seven
pools across Section IV, she possesses records for her superior swimming
ability; and

WHEREAS, An exceptional swimmer, Angelina McKane was the 2023
NYSPHSAA and Federation Champion in the 100-yard Butterfly and the
50-yard Freestyle with automatic All-American times in both; she led the
400-yard Freestyle Relay with an All-American consideration time; in
2022, she was the NYSPHSAA and Federation Champion in the 50-yard
Freestyle, with an All-American consideration time of 23.39, and
NYSPHSAA Champion in the 100-yard Butterfly with an automatic
All-American time of 54.05; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, Angelina McKane was the 2021 NYSPHSAA
Champion in the 100-yard Butterfly, with a time of 54.63 for an
All-American consideration time, and claimed fifth place in New York
State in the 50-yard Freestyle; in 2020, she was ranked as first in the

100-yard Butterfly for the state's public schools; she held 16th place
in the 100-yard Butterfly in 2019; and

WHEREAS, Adding to the impressive tally of accomplishments, Angelina
McKane claims the following titles: Outstanding Performer, voted by
coaches, for the Section IV Class A Swimming & Diving Championship in
2021, 2022, and 2023; Section IV Class A Champion in the 50-yard
Freestyle, 100-yard Butterfly, and 400-yard Freestyle Relay in 2021 and
2022; Section IV Champion in 200-yard Individual Medley, 100-yard
Butterfly, and 400-yard Freestyle Relay in 2023; and the 2021 (F2)
Section IV Class A Champion in the 50-yard Freestyle and 100-yard
Butterfly competitions; and

WHEREAS, Angelina McKane is a four-time Southern Tier Athletic
Conference All Star; she is a dedicated swimmer and participates in
United States swimming meets; she competed at the Summer National meet
in California in the summer of 2023; and

WHEREAS, Not only an outstanding athlete, Angelina McKane is also an
exceptional academic, maintaining her status as a High Honor Roll
student from 2020-2024 and participating as a Member of the National
Honor Society; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, Angelina McKane's extracurricular activities
merit recognition; she is a Member of the Student Council, the Youth
Activation Committee, and the Future Business Leaders of America; she
was a Mentor in her freshman year and a volunteer at Wineglass Marathon
and Unified Bowling matches; and

WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride,
and accomplishment, and Angelina McKane has clearly contributed to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of her school; now, therefore,
be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Angelina McKane upon the occasion of capturing both the
Girls 50-yard Freestyle and the Girls 100-yard Butterfly titles at the
NYSPHSAA Girls Swimming and Diving Championship on November 18, 2023;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Angelina McKane, Head Coach Alyssa Helsing, and Coach
Anthony Furstoss.
