COMMENDING Making the Impossible Possible, Inc.
upon the occasion of hosting its 13th Annual Power
of Partnerships, Scholarship, and Hall of Fame Gala
on May 26, 2024

WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations who give of their time and
energies and serve the best interests of their communities are an asset
beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Making the
Impossible Possible, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its 13th Annual
Power of Partnerships, Scholarship, and Hall of Fame Gala on Sunday, May
26, 2024, at the BRIC House in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Making the Impossible Possible (MIPO), Inc. is a nonprofit
organization dedicated to promoting the quality of life of immigrant
youth and their families residing in the New York metropolitan area
through a variety of activities; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Founder and CEO Miss Felina
Backer and Co-Founder Sandra Nelson, MIPO, Inc. has demonstrated a
steadfast commitment to community improvement and support, offering such
resources as organizing youth summits, awarding scholarships to high
school graduating seniors in the New York metro-area, supporting schools
in Haiti with short and long-term projects, and conducting professional
development training for educators in Haiti; and

WHEREAS, Making the Impossible Possible's Annual Gala is an event
that offers the chance to highlight the efforts and successes of
individuals who have given of themselves unwaveringly in accordance with
MIPO, Inc.'s guiding principles; and

WHEREAS, The 2024 honorees are Funke Akintayo, Vice President of
MAICO NY Inc.; Immacula Desvarieux, New York State Certified Guidance
Counselor; Manuel Castro, Commissioner, Mayor's Office of Immigrant
Affairs; Nadine Charles, MACPsy, BSN, RN, CEO of Kingdom Health & Wealth
Concierge Inc.; Marie Lily Cerat, PhD, Director of the CUNY Haitian
Studies Institute at Brooklyn College; Geraldine McGinty, MD, MBA,
Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at Weill Cornell; Marnell
Paul, MSN, RN, Founder and President of Women in Touch of Zion; Marian
Y. Scott, MS, Senior Vice President of Community Engagement and Human
Resources Specialist at ZiphyCare Inc.; Anita Taylor, District Director
for the Congresswoman of the 9th District of New York; Reverend
Professor Emmanuel N. A. Tetteh, PhD, International Vice President of
Action Learning, Action Research Association; and Margarette D. Tropnas,
Executive Director of Community Relations at Department of Social
Services in the Office of Intergovernmental and Legislative Affairs; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to

commend Making the Impossible Possible, Inc. upon the occasion of
hosting its 13th Annual Power of Partnerships, Scholarship, and Hall of
Fame Gala on May 26, 2024; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Making the Impossible Possible, Inc., and the
aforementioned honorees.
