CONGRATULATING Madison Tuttle upon the occasion of
capturing the 2024 Adidas Indoor Nationals Track and
Field Championship in the 1-mile racewalk

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to Madison Tuttle
upon the occasion of capturing the 2024 Adidas Indoor Nationals Track
and Field Championship in the 1-mile racewalk on March 15 through 17,
2024, at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia;
and

WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of her excited fans, Madison
Tuttle won the 1-mile racewalk against nine competitors; she also
secured All-American status for the second time, following her recent
accolade at the New Balance Nationals in Boston, Massachusetts; and

WHEREAS, Madison Tuttle finished the racewalk with a remarkable time
of 8:09.62 and outpaced the second-place finisher by a significant
margin; and

WHEREAS, Exemplifying incredible adaptability and skill, Madison
Tuttle earned recognition as a Co-MVP for winter sports in Schuyler by
The Odessa File; and

WHEREAS, In the Spring of 2022, Madison Tuttle experienced an ACL
injury, sparking her interest in racewalking; she had great success in
that season, placing first in a number of invitationals and breaking
school records; and

WHEREAS, Coming into this year's season highly motivated, Madison
Tuttle won the Section IV Championships, reset the school record again,
placed 8th in the New Balance Invitational in the 1-mile racewalk,
before winning the title in the Adidas Nationals; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by these young women is due
in great part to the efforts of Coach Kelly Sterner and AD Rod Weeden,
skilled and inspirational tutors, respected for their ability to develop
potential into excellence; and

WHEREAS, Madison Tuttle's overall record is outstanding; they were
loyally and enthusiastically supported by their family, fans, friends
and the community at large; and

WHEREAS, Coach Kelly Sterner has done a superb job in guiding,
molding and inspiring this young woman towards her goals; and

WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Madison Tuttle has clearly made a contribution
to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of her school; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Madison Tuttle upon the occasion of capturing the 2024
Adidas Indoor Nationals Track and Field Championship in the 1-mile
racewalk; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Coach, Kelly Sterner; AD, Rod Weeden; and Madison Tuttle.
