HONORING Lea Potter upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by ANS
Association on January 28, 2023

WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals, such as Lea Potter, who uphold the values of
community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize the best
of humanity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lea Potter
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by ANS
Association to be celebrated at its I Am Beautiful Conference Award
Ceremony on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at K & L Manor, Brooklyn, New
York; and

WHEREAS, An empowering networking group, ANS Association assists
men, women and youth with education and mentorship while providing vital
resources and development; truly dedicated to its community, this
extraordinary organization supports countless individuals through its
many initiatives, including food distribution, health care fairs,
business expos, networking events and youth empowerment groups; and

WHEREAS, Lea Potter has a 15-year history of community leadership
and currently serves as the Residential Association President of Abraham
Lincoln Houses; in this capacity, she leads a team who are truly
dedicated to improving the quality of life of the individuals and
families residing in the 1,200-unit complex; and

WHEREAS, Lea Potter and her team have implemented countless
initiatives, including the Annual Back to School Giveaway, the
"Shred-It" event where residents shred nearly 1,600 pounds of their
confidential documents, and a bi-weekly food distribution program; and

WHEREAS, In June of 2021, Lea Potter coordinated with Chef Millie's
"Full Bellies" organization for a Juneteenth food giveaway, which
provided food to more than 3,500 individuals within the community;
additionally, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she and a team of volunteers
dedicated an unlimited number of hours assisting the community with
accessing COVID testing, vaccines, and PPE equipment; and

WHEREAS, A certified CASAC II Case Manager, Lea Potter spent 12
years assisting adults who have struggled with substance dependence,
mental health issues and homelessness return to society after
incarceration; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her beloved
community, this incredible woman believes strongly in investing in where
you live, emphasizing the word "unity" is in "community," and together
we can help each other; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Lea Potter has displayed
throughout her life; and


WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Lea Potter, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lea Potter upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by ANS Association; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lea Potter.
